An introduction...
Many years ago, I renamed myself Alexis. Studies have shown that your name gives a first impression long before your presence does, and I wished for my first name to be universal and strong, with a hint of femininity.
I named this blog "Marketing Insights", as I plan to share exactly that with my readers. This is a compilation of my ideas, thoughts and takeaways on everything marketing.
I hope to build a strong foundation in marketing with a course that gives a broad scope on the study. Knowing how marketing has evolved and which key practices have been here all along is useful for successful foresight and adaptation as marketing becomes much more digital.
To be successful, I plan on being consistent with my time management and assignment completion, digging into my creativity when it comes to application, and doing my best no matter the scope of work.
An interesting and important thing I learned this week is the difference between how a normal person sees the world, and how a naturally artistic/creative/open person does.

Creativity (or otherwise openness to experience and explore) has been categorized as "the leading reason in some people seeing more possibilities than others. The creativity of open people stems from a “drive for cognitive exploration of one’s inner and outer worlds”. Scientific findings suggest that the creative tendencies of open people extend all the way down to basic visual perception. Open people may have fundamentally different visual experiences to the average person." (Creative people really do see the world differently, Luke Smillie & Anna Antinori).
This has been an interesting insight into understanding my own thinking. Discovering the uniqueness of my perspective has helped to uncover how many unique ways there are to think. This was inspirational and reminded me how much others actually bring to the table when it comes to collaboration.
I look forward to sharing more thoughts with you.
